Ciro Bayo (Madrid 1859-1939). Fue un extraño personaje, de vida aventurera y bohemia. A los 16 años milita en el Partido Carlista, como cuenta en su libro Con Dorregaray (1912). Estudió Derecho. Recorre Europa y América del Sur -fue maestro rural en la Argentina- y sus andanzas la inspiran obras como El peregrino en Indias, En el corazón de América del Sur (1911), Los Marañones (1913), Los Caballeros del Dorado (1915), Por la América desconocida (1924)... entre otras. Entre lo más destacado de su obra, están los libros de viaje por España: Lazarillo español (1911) sobre un viaje de Madrid a Barcelona y sobre todo El peregrino entretenido. Viaje romancesco (1910), donde relata una excursión a pié, desde Madrid hasta Yuste, en compañía de Pío y Ricardo Baroja.
