[SPA] Este texto, titulado «Una transacción de ojos y retratos (La soberbissimice y esta estória de «Os chapéus transeuntes»)», por un lado pretende reflexionar, desde una perspectiva holística, sobre algunos aspectos del conjunto de la obra ficcional de João Guimarães Rosa, que podemos resumir tanto en la dificultad derivada de su pertinaz recreación linguística, carácter renovador y experimentación técnica, como en los diferentes niveles de complejidad resultantes de su ejemplar indagación de lo humano. Por otro lado, a lo largo de estas páginas, también se pretende una aproximación, de corte interpretativo e intención reivindicativa, a la singular –y un algo secundarizada estória– rosiana de «Los sombreros transeúntes», sobre el pecado de la orgullosa soberbia.

[POR] Este texto, intitulado «Uma transação de olhos e retratos (A soberbissimice e esta estória de «Os chapéus transeuntes»)», por um lado, pretende reflexionar, com uma perspetiva holística, sobre alguns aspetos do conjunto da obra ficcional de João Guimarães Rosa, que podemos resumir tanto na dificuldade derivada da sua teimosa recriação linguística, caráter renovador e experimentação técnica, quanto nos diferentes níveis de complexidade resultantes da sua exemplar indagação do humano. Por outro lado, nas páginas que se seguem, também se pretende uma aproximação, de teor interpretativo e intenção reivindicativa, à singular – e um algo secundarizada – estória rosiana de «Os chapéus transeuntes», sobre o pecado da orgulhosa soberba.

[ENG] This article, entitled «A Transition of Eyes and Portraits: Soberbissimice and esta estória of «Os chapéus transeuntes»», on the one hand, aims to reflect from a holistic perspective on some aspects of the entire fictional work of João Guimarães Rosa, in which we can summarize both the difficulty arising from his persistent linguistic games, renewing character and technical experiments, as well as the different levels of complexity resulting from his exemplary investigation of human nature. On the other hand, we also seek to approach in an interpretative way and reclaim the validity of the singular – and sometimes marginalized – estória by Rosa, «The Hats Passing by» which deals with the sin of pride and vainglory.
