El rey Eduardo el Confesor había fallecido apenas unos meses antes, sin herederos, y Haroldo Godwinsson subió al trono. Pero más pretendientes ambicionaban la corona: al otro lado del canal de la Mancha, el despiadado Guillermo el Bastardo y, en Noruega, Haroldo Hardrada, terrible monarca vikingo. Tres reyes, dos batallas y un reino: Inglaterra. Marc Morris narra la conquista normanda de Inglaterra, considerada el evento más relevante de la historia inglesa, con el mismo pulso que demostró en el aclamado Anglosajones.
