Sus poemas han sido incluidos en diversas antologías, como The Best American Erotic Poems o The Library of America Anthology of American Religious Poems, editado por Harold Bloom. En la actualidad es director del Writing Program de la Universidad de Columbia, donde enseña poesía. Reside en Nueva York.
